Thanks Snowdancer for the idea and instructions.

I did a quick dirty map for bay area (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=105521644016115681599.00046d6fdb8a9fd6239b0&ll=38.569643,-122.225647&spn=0.919091,1.549072&z=9). Will refine it later and also add it to the SF thread.

For anyone wanting to do similar for their cities, instructions from the master himself below ...

1. Go to Google Maps (maps.google.com)
2. Click on 'My Maps'
3. Then 'Create new map'
4. To add a spot, look it up in the search box.
5. Click on the spot that was found, and a 'bubble' should pop up.
6. In the bubble is a 'Save to My Maps' choice.
7. Somewhere, if I recall, is a 'Save' button for when you're done.
